Srikant's Biodata

Dr. Ramakrishnan Srikant is a Principal Research Scientist at Google. He previously managed the Privacy Research group, part of the Intelligent Information Systems Research department at IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA. His research interests include privacy technologies for data systems, data mining, and web technologies.

Dr. Srikant has published more than 30 research papers that have been extensively cited. He has been granted 19 patents, and has another 9 pending patent applications. Dr. Srikant was a key architect for IBM Intelligent Miner, and contributed the association rules and sequential patterns modules to the product.

Dr. Srikant received the ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award (2006) for his seminal work on mining association rules and privacy preserving data mining, the 2002 ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award for his work on mining association rules, and the VLDB 2004 Ten Year Best Paper Award. He was named an IBM Research Division Master Inventor in 1999. He has received 2 Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards for his contributions to Intelligent Miner, and an Outstanding Innovation Award for his work on Privacy in Data Systems.

Dr. Srikant served as Program co-Chair of SIGKDD 2001, and PAKDD 2004, Vice Chair of WWW 2006 and ICDM 2004, and Deputy Chair of WWW 2004. He is the Editor-in-Chief of SIGKDD Explorations, and an Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Internet Technology. He also served as Tutorials Chair of KDD 2003, and Industrial Track co-Chair of PAKDD 2003.

Dr. Srikant received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and his B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
